What You'll Do
As a Diesel Technician, you'll help build, troubleshoot, and improve custom railroad equipment from the ground up. Every project is different, giving you the opportunity to use your mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fabrication skills to create one-of-a-kind solutions for our customers.
In this role, you will:
- Design and build hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems for custom railroad equipment.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel-powered equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic software, Service Information Systems (SIS), and hand and pneumatic tools.
- Test, inspect, and fine-tune new and rebuilt equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Research and source components needed for repairs and new equipment development.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to deliver innovative customer solutions.
- Mentor and support fellow technicians with troubleshooting and technical expertise.
- Create and maintain assembly procedures, parts documentation, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and service information.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and likes solving challenging mechanical problems.
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulics
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical troubleshooting
- Heavy equipment or railroad equipment
- Welding and fabrication
- Reading hydraulic or electrical schematics
